It’s not unheard of for celebrities to commit themselves to rehab for a variety of reasons. However, this decision isn’t usually one that they purposefully divulge to the public. Comedian Pete Davidson is different though and this recent candid admission is proof of it.

Seeking Help

The 26-year-old sometimes actor recently confirmed that he went to a rehab stint at the Sierra Tucson treatment center. According to a Page Six report, Davidson shared this personal decision during a stand-up show in New York City.

He didn’t detail the reasons behind his stay in the Arizona facility but shared that he spent his time there working on his comedy writing.

Davidson said that he entered Sierra Tucson under the name Howard and talked about hanging out in an area where his co-patients go to smoke.

It’s worth noting though that the facility specializes in treating people who have substance abuse struggles as well as other mental health issues. Their services cater to those suffering from eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related issues.

Personal Struggles

This admission may not come as a surprise to the comedian’s fans. After all, he’s been open about his mental struggles before.

He has actually shared his struggles with anxiety and depression as well as his borderline personality disorder diagnosis. He reportedly also sought treatment in 2016.

He’s also used humor as a way to talk about his personal struggles. For example, he implied last December that he was going to be seeking treatment once again during an SNL Weekend Update segment.

In the bit, Davidson said he was going on a ‘little vacation’ but the kind that insurance pays for. He also jokes about it being in a set up where he’d have to bunk with roommates but still pay $100,000.

Back to Work

Now that he’s back though, Davidson seems to be poised and prepared to return to work. Fans can expect to see him next in his upcoming Netflix comedy special, ‘Alive from New York’. The youngest SNL cast member is also starring in two coming movies.

First is the coming-of-age film ‘Big Time Adolescence’ for Hulu and the second one being the Judd Apatow-directed ‘The King of Staten Island’, which he also co-wrote.
