California has no shortage of rich and famous people. Being the home to the headquarters of various industry giants, the state has become both playground and home to a long list of executives and billionaires.

One will particularly find a lot of them flocking to the state’s largest city, Los Angeles. Here are some of the City of Angels’ wealthiest residents.

Elon Musk

One of Los Angeles’ richest and most popular residents is Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Although best known for his electric vehicles and space travel efforts, the 48-year-old billionaire actually works on a variety of other projects.

One of these is SolarCity. The company specializes in the designing and installation of solar panels. It also provides both businesses and homeowners with solar power systems.

Another one of his projects is Hyperloop, which envisions creating a high-speed transportation system connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles. Musk currently has a $43.6 billion fortune.

David Geffen

David Geffen is the music executive behind the successful careers of musical acts like Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and The Eagles.

What more, he’s also made a fortune in the film industry as a co-founder of the movie studio Dreamworks along director Steven Spielberg and producer Jeffrey Katzenberg. The 77-year-old has an estimated net worth of $9 billion.

Patrick Soon-Shiong

The acquisition of the daily newspaper was reportedly through Soon-Shiong’s Nant Capital investment

After hitting it big in the world of pharmaceuticals, billionaire and trained surgeon Patrick Soon-Shiong has set his sights on expanding his empire.

The South African born businessman has notably bought the San Diego Tribune and the Los Angeles Times for half a billion dollars in 2018. Soon-Shiong is also a minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, further establishing his connection to the Californian city.

Forbes estimates that his wealth amounts to about $7.1 billion. He continues to work within the healthcare industry through NantWorks.

Eli Broad

Together with his wife Edythe, Broad has amassed an art collection featuring works from influential modern artists

Eli Broad is not only one of Los Angeles’ richest men, he’s also one of its most generous ones.

The 86-year-old billionaire has built a reputation for his support of various causes such as medical research, education reform, and the arts.

Broad’s most notable contribution to Los Angeles is the creation of The Broad, a free admission museum that showcases his impressive collection. The 86-year-old has a fortune of $6.8 billion.
