There is something about celebrities that has many people interested in their work, personal life, and relationships. It could be that they are always under the spotlight or that some people genuinely want to know more about their favorite celebrity. This is why there is a significant amount of focus on who celebrities date.
Some celebrities end up being very public about their romantic relationships while others refrain from even talking about it. But whether they discuss it or not, one thing is sure is that there will always be a buzz surrounding celebrity relationships.
This buzz reached new heights when the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was spotted with Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley. Many people may not know that the two were once a couple but the folks of the 90s remember it like today's Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. Check out the relationship timeline of Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley.
At the Beginning in 1993
In the famous Biography titled Michael Jackson, author J. Randy Taraborrelli recalls that Michael was very infatuated with Lisa to the point that he asked her if she would marry him, and without hesitation, Lisa replied with an affirmative answer.
This was the beginning of their romance which led to the two tying the knot in a 15-minute ceremony in the Dominican Republic but what shocked the world was the fact that it had only been 20 days since Presley's divorce from Danny Keough.
Soon after Lisa made a public statement announcing her devotion to Michael Jackson and that the two were looking to raise a family and that she would dedicate her life to being Jackson's wife.
Trouble in Paradise
In September of 1994, the couple made their red carpet debut at the MTV Video Music Awards where they famously kissed on the stage. In the same month, the pair also visited the Palace of Versailles in France.
However, trouble seemed to knock on their door after rumors about their inactive bedroom life began circulating and it became a huge gossip since the two had become the IT couple of the time.
They were forced to address it in an interview with Diane Sawyer where they were asked about their private lives. As awkward as it may have been, the couple reassured the viewers that the rumors were untrue.
The End
This was only the beginning of the end as the couple decided to call it quits in December of 1995 and Lisa Marie Presley filed for divorce in the following year citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
Since the couple had gained quite a lot of popularity, there was a lot of criticism that followed after the announcement of the split. The judge who officiated their marriage gave a statement to Entertainment Weekly claiming that he had given them a year and they lasted more than his expectation.
On January 1996, their divorce was finalized and they went onto separate paths in life.
