The past two years and the pandemic-forced isolation have proved to be a huge advocate for mental health. Though people do realize the importance of mental health now, it is still rarely held up to the standards that it should be.
The lockdown and the stress from the pandemic have plunged a large amount of the population into either developing or having an increased risk of depression and anxiety.
To combat this, efforts are being made to create awareness for mental health because it allows people to note patterns and understand their emotions.
From what we've gathered, it looks like the Duchess of Cambridge couldn't agree more.
Kate Middleton went back to school and joined a class full of young students and teachers. She was excited to see that schools are now teaching students about the science behind the way the human brain works.
Science and the Human Brain
The royal mum seems to be quite interested in this subject of mental health as she recently initiated a department at The Royal Foundation that is solely dedicated to the science of the human brain and factors that may influence mental health later on.
This newfound interest had led the Duchess to visit a school in northwest London where a new project has been introduced on early neurodevelopment, inspired by the project at Oxford University, and 3700 students have already taken part in it.
Dr. Elizabeth Rapa, a senior postdoctoral researcher at the SEEN Project, spoke with PEOPLE and mentioned that the Duchess of Cambridge understood the whole ordeal and she agreed that there should be measures taken in order to create awareness about the connection between brain development and future long-term health.
Impressed by the Students
Kate Middleton actively took part in the conversation while at the school. She even went around the classroom tables and interacted with the students while taking a look at the slides that were explaining the neural connection at different ages of a newborn’s brain. Dr. Rappa mentions that she was impressed to see the students and their active participation in the class and that this is the kind of response that the Duchess was looking for.

Moreover, she was happy to note that this project is allowing the young generation to understand the connection to real life and that it's not just something that scientists should look into.
It's safe to say that the Duchess is clearly passionate about mental health and she hopes to see more young people learning about it.
