Having successful and famous parents like power couple Beyonce and Jay Z can put insurmountable pressure on a child to live up to the same level of wealth and influence.
Eight-year-old Blue Ivy Carter may not have to worry so much about that though. After all, she’s already begun making a name for herself in the same industry as her parents.
Spotify Sensation
Despite not having released anything as a solo musician, the eldest Carter offspring has already garnered over a million monthly listeners on the popular music streaming platform Spotify.
That feat didn’t come from nowhere though. Blue Ivy has been featured in a couple of songs thanks to her musician parents.
She’s been featured and credited on songs like ‘Brown Skin Girl’, which was produced by her mother and an earlier Beyonce song ‘Blue’ back in 2014. The young girl has also contributed to her father’s songs: ‘Legacy’ and ‘Blue’s Freestyle/We Family’.
Even more impressive is that she began her foray into music just days after she was born. She actually became the youngest person ever to appear on a Billboard chart thanks to a feature on Jay Z’s song ‘Glory’.
Born in 2012, Blue Ivy is the older sister of twins Sir Carter and Rumi, who were born in 2017.
Supportive Fans

As expected, this news was received well by the Beyhive, Beyonce’s fanbase. One fan even jokingly tweeted that Blue Ivy was ‘outperforming the other girls in the womb’.
There were also those who proudly shared that they were streaming ‘Brown Skin Girl’, Blue Ivy’s solely listed song on Spotify. The track is mainly sung by Beyonce, the Nigerian singer Wizkid, and Guyanese singer Saint Jhn.
Cultural Icon
Blue Ivy’s popularity among the public isn’t entirely lost on her pop diva mother. In fact, the 38-year-old musician has already tried trademarking her daughter’s name saying that the girl is a ‘cultural icon’.
This decision led to a trademark dispute after a small business owner opposed the attempt. Wendy Morales, who’s also a wedding planner, is the owner of a business that also has the name Blue Ivy.
Beyonce, through her lawyer, fought back and argued about her daughter’s status in popular culture mentioning how she’s been dubbed as a ‘mini style star’.
