Having a proud and supportive mother is the biggest superpower one can have. Despite all odds, if there’s something that can keep you steering on the path to success, it’s your mother’s belief in you and her unconditional support. And this applies to all moms, be it regular people or celebrities.
During her appearance on Ellen Pomper’s podcast, supermodel Cindy Crawford shared that her daughter Kaia Gerber started taking the next steps towards setting up her acting career amidst the pandemic lockdowns. As a proud mom, Cindy revealed that she admires her daughter’s confidence to start acting at such a young age. Something she would probably not have done when she was equally young.
Crawford’s experiences compared with Kaia
Crawford (55), opened up further and admitted that her daughter, Kaia, is way more confident than she was at that age. She said when she was in high school, she always wanted to try out for school plays. But since none of her friends were interested and she didn’t know if she would be good at it, she never tried it out. Kaia, she says, is nothing like that.
The elated mother relieved her beautiful daughter has never hesitated from getting into acting. Right through elementary, middle, and high school, Kaia has played an active role in school productions. Once out of school, she started taking up modeling gigs to establish her foot in the world of acting.
But when the pandemic hit in 2020, things slowed down suddenly, and this urged Kaia to take her passion for acting more seriously.
Kaia’s tryst with acting
Crawford explained that Kaia wasn’t traveling much or even modeling locally because no shoots were happening the past year. So she decided to use her time by taking acting classes online and auditioning. Kaia had prior acting knowledge and experience, but as a diligent professional, she decided to further hone her skills.
In March 2021, Kaia Gerber landed her first project. She was cast in the 10th season of the American Horror Story. Gerber herself shared that although it was quite exciting she was scared because she felt like she had high expectations to live up to. She further added that with the hype her fans had created around her acting, she got a lot more eyes than anyone would have normally got on their debut.
After starring in American Horror Stories and a double feature for two episodes, she got her first lead role in a short film called The Palisades. Although Kaia shared the trailer for the upcoming film, no other details on the release date and storyline has been released. The short film’s official Instagram page has announced that the film explores the subtle nuances of female friendships.
